21st July 2003 - SION Business Angels event 21st July - Report

SION welcomed a new group of Private Investors from the Angels5k network who have just joined SION, this increases our investor base by around 30.
The audience listened to the 15 minute presentations from our latest six firms, all six had been pre-qualified by our expert review panel prior to the event.

It was reported that an Investment is going ahead as a result of our event in May, more details when the embargo is lifted.


Pharmaceutical £300k
Hormone treatment for Prostrate and other organ enlargement problems. Development is at an advanced stage. Around £1m already invested from a syndicate including 3i.

Medical Device for home monitoring £400k
Patients with chronic illnesses (Strokes, Diabetes) can be remotely monitored while at home. Several hundred units undergoing field trials with the NHS

Broadband for Rural areas £300k
Radio network to distribute the Internet to areas that BT and the Cable companies will not service. Rolled out and working.

Private in house TV networks £500k
Point of Sale Advertising or in company broadcasting tailored to specific sites and audiences. Oracle database and web enabled.

Local TV Broadcasting £300k to £800k
An established broadcaster with a number of exclusive local licences. An alternative to conventional media for targeted local advertising. Already in full operation.

CCTV over the Internet £300k to £500k (SION Late entry)
An established OFEX listed firm. Opportunity to expand into IP based remote monitoring.
