3rd February 2003 - Sign Post Success
Portsmouth & South-East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce and Portsmouth City Council has combined forces with local companies and now has travel advice on-line for local companies.
The SignPOST Forum site offers advice and information on how employees can help reduce congestion and travel without their cars, for some journeys when commuting or travelling for business.
You are invited to try the new web site out for yourself at The Technopole, Kingston Crescent on Tuesday January 21 2003 at 2pm.
Councillor Phil Shaddock Executive Member for Traffic and Transportation Committee said:
?There is evidence that if given the information and advice they need, car drivers will use public transport for some journeys. This new web site holds this vital information and should make a real difference to drivers? options.
Chair of South-East Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Maureen Newton said:
?The forum is non-political and benefits from representation from major businesses, public transport operators, local authorities and educational establishments.
?Our members recognise that the delays and costs of congestion seriously affect their business, including their ability to recruit staff. Solutions that can reduce these costs are highly sought after and that?s why this website is so valuable to them.?
